The Department of Homeland Security recently denied US entry to a British family on their way to Disneyland. The family is Muslim.
I’m pretty sure this is not the first time DHS has turned someone away from and it won’t be the last. But that doesn’t stop the Washington Post from turning it into an opportunity to bash Donald Trump and anyone else who is concerned about potential terrorists.
What bothers me is that we know absolutely nothing at this point on why the family was turned away. There is more to this story that we don’t know yet. So it’s too early to say one way or the other.
But the Washington Post was still able to come up with an 1100 word post on the subject, while playing the emotional card on the unfair treatment of Muslims by pointing out that this was a family traveling to Disneyland.
“We were devastated,” Mahmood told the British TV station ITV. “We’d planned this trip for two months — the kids were excited — and all of a sudden some person just comes and says ‘you’re not allowed to board the plane,’ with no explanation.”
“We were alienated,” he added, “the way we were just taken out the room.”
Mahmood said the children were “devastated” and had “tears in their eyes.”
