Her struggle for justice is for LGBT rights. Never mind that Harris-Perry is straight. But more on that later as this entire story is full of hypocritical doublespeak.
This article portrays the MSNBC vs Melissa Harris-Perry kerfuffle as Harris-Perry leaving MSNBC. Go figure that the headline of the NY Times article they link to is “After Tense Weeks, Melissa Harris-Perry’s MSNBC Show Is Canceled”
The show was canceled; ultimately by the network, as a result of not wanting to deal with this kind of attitude:
“I will not be used as a tool for their purposes,” wrote Harris-Perry, who is African American. “I am not a token, mammy or little brown bobble head. I am not owned by [NBC executives] or MSNBC. I love our show. I want it back.” – Washington Post
If you want your show back, then you didn’t leave the show – it left you.
But now that Harris-Perry has a new (albiet less than real journalism) gig with Elle, Harris-Perry supporters and minions have a job to do. They need to rewrite history to fit their narrative. Funny how Liberals like to claim Conservatives are Orwellian yet go on to participate in a “Ministry of Truth” project such as this.
If Big Brother makes a prediction that turns out to be wrong, the employees of the Ministry of Truth go back and rewrite the prediction so that any prediction Big Brother previously made is accurate.
Yeah… that’s pretty much what Bustle.com is doing here.
Oh, there’s more.
The point of this article is to draw attention to Harris-Perry’s new torch – LGBT rights and equality; never mind that what is passed as “equality” is actually creating more of a protected class, echoing another Orwell novel, “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.”
The article points out how black correspondents were shut out of the WHCD even until 1944 and women until 1962. LGBT specific media was not granted access until the Reagan Administration but then had it revoked during the Bush Administration, not to be reinstated until Obama was re-elected in 2012.
Wait a minute… What was that part about Reagan? Yes, LGBT media was granted access during a Conservative administration. And after it was revoked, it was not reinstated until AFTER Obama was re-elected. That Obama – he’s so brave. (Yes, that’s sarcastic – if he was, this would have occurred in his first term.)
And Harris-Perry’s struggle for LGBT justice? She’s straight, so her struggle makes about as much sense as a white man fighting for the racial and gender struggles of Black Women. You and I understand that’s perfectly legit, but in that scenario someone with a racial chip on their shoulder like Harris-Perry would scream that we know nothing about the struggles they face. But that doesn’t matter when the table is turned.
