Earth calling Barack

President Obama suggested today that his low poll numbers are due to high gas saying, “My poll numbers go up and down depending on the latest crisis and right now gas prices are weighing heavily on people.” (source: The Hill)

That’s a nice cop out and dodge of what the poll numbers actually suggest.  It’s not just that people are upset with high prices so they blame the President.  They are indicating that they disapprove of how he is actually dealing with the crisis.  So his lagging poll numbers aren’t simply because of general malaise; they represent dissatisfaction with his leadership (or lack of leadership).  There’s a bid difference.
